About the artist: Henning Ryden (Swedish, American 1869-1939) was born in Sweden, studied in Berlin, Paris and Copenhagen before coming to the United States in 1891. He was an engraver and also sculpted and painted as well. He spent much of his life in Chicago and would paint landscapes such as this example while spending summer months in Wisconsin. Ryden died in Columbus in 1939.
